The translations were pasted to the diaries and they were distributed to the students studying in grade V of the schools selected for the competition at a ceremony held on 2nd July at “Janasetha Kalakendraya” in Moratuwa graced by Hon.Jeewan Kumaranathunga Chief Advisor Green Cross Sri Lanka also attended by Mr.Kawamoto who visited Sri Lanka during this period to monitor the progress of the construction work and install the Solar panels at of Green Cross Solar Park.

The school children were educated on the objectives of the Environment Diary and they were motivated to write the diaries regularly for a period of three months from July, to September. In October the diaries written by the students were collected and after an evaluation of same a total of 106 students were selected for exposing them for the 2nd stage of the competition on the speech and essay writing contest held on 17th November 2007 at “Janasetha Kalakendraya” at Moratuwa participated by a panel of judges. The results were finally evaluated and the following two students were selected as winners to offer of trips to Japan in December 2007 to participate at the Children’s Symposium.

The balance students totaling 94 were presented with the Participation Certificates.
In order to accompany the students to Japan a teacher was selected.

After completing the formalities such as the passports, air tickets…etc a function was held on 10th December 2007 at “Janasetha Kalakendraya” for handing over the air tickets and certificates to the winners and the teachers graced by Hon.Jeewan Kumaranathunga,Chief Advisor and Miniser of Lands and Land Development as the Chief Invited Guest.

The team comprising of the two students, a teacher and the President of Green Cross Sri Lanka visited Japan and participated at the Children’s Symposium successfully and returned to Sri Lanka on 17th of December 2007.
