Distribution of 5000 Ebony Plants

Green Cross Sri Lanka implemented a project on the free distribution of 5000 Ebony plants to the villagers of Mahaweli agricultural zone at Andarawewa Ambilipitiya in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. The Ebony plants were donated by Mr. Hapuhinna, Advisory Board member presently attached to the Australian High Commissioner of Sri Lanka as the Deputy High Commissioner. This programme was held on the 10th of March 2006 participated by members of GCSL and a host of environmentalists headed by Prof. Piyal Marasinghe expert on herbal plants who was invited to hand over to Ebony plants to the recipients. A meeting was held for the villagers to educate on the protection and maintenance of the Ebony plants which will be of great value in the future.

Environment Diary Programme

In December 2006 two students one from Sunadopanada School Moratuwa, Ms. Anjali and a student of Prince of Wales Collage Mas.Madusanka attended the International Children’s Symposium and returned to Sri Lanka after the tour.
